LAFS Christmas Gift Program

Published by:

This year we will be participating in the Lonsdale Area Food Shelf Christmas Gift Program by sponsoring 3 families. This provides us the opportunity to provide Christmas joy to several families most in need within our community.

✢ “Wish List bulbs/tags” will be hung on a tree in the back of Church during the weekends of November 14-15 and November 21-22.

✢ Each “bulb/tag” lists a suggested item to buy, along with age, male/female, suggested price range, and clothing size (if appropriate).

✢ Please take a tag (or 2), & go shopping!

✢ No time to shop? Take a bulb and donate the money instead. Or donate to the general program to offset costs for families that aren’t adopted

✢ Return unwrapped gifts & bulb(s) by November 29

Family Prayer and Pope Francis’s Visit to the USA

Published by:

2015 is the Year for Families! Pope Francis has asked all families to enrich and energize family life by praying the “World Meeting of Families Prayer” each day for their own family’s personal intentions. These prayer cards were handed out after each Mass this weekend; extras are available in Church.

In recognition of the historic visit of Pope Francis to the United States, the USCCB has created several ways that we can stay connected to these events.

Parish Town Hall Meeting

Published by:

On May 18, we had our 1st Parish Town Hall Meeting! It went very well, and we thank those who were able to attend. For those unable to attend, the presentation is available below.

At the meeting, we spoke about our Parish Mission, the Financial Status of the Parish, and our Holy Cross Catholic School. We spent a lot time going through the survey results and our ministries, their purpose, what they’ve done and what’s next. We’ve restructured the Pastoral Council to respond best to our Parish needs and our ministries include:

Evangelization – being led by Ashlee Rickert. It includes being a part of a Welcoming team, helping to coordinate events, speakers and outreach, or assisting with a mentor program before marriage.

Service and Discipleship – being led by Betty Smisek. This ministry includes works of mercy and faith formation, including Adult Bible Study, visiting the shut-ins, and community outreach programs.

Youth and Family ministry. This was a big topic on the survey mentioned as an area vital to our Church! A team has been formed and we welcome you to be a part of fundraising and coordinating events for our youth and families.

Communication and Technology – being led by Heather Malecha. It includes communicating using both print and electronic methods, plus building awareness of our Church. We will seek to inform of events, capturing pictures, writing newsletters, website, and social media.

If you are interested in volunteering in any of these ministries or in the Mass, please contact the Parish Office at 507-744-2829 or icparish@lonstel.com.
